MAP Testing for September 19-21

Asa Low students will take their Beginning of the Year MAP Tests beginning Monday, September 19 - Wednesday, September 21!

Mansfield Independent School District is committed to teaching and learning that facilitates student success. Local assessments are critical because they serve as instruments to provide the direction in the instructional decision-making process. Assessment for learning is an ongoing, interactive process that supports the curriculum framework and alignment of the written, taught, and tested curriculum.

The NWEA MAP Test (Measures of Academic Progress) is an adaptive achievement and growth test. It creates a personalized assessment experience by adapting to each student's learning level—precisely measuring progress and growth for each individual student.

Our students will take the MAP Tests three times per year; at the begining, in the middle, and at the end of the year. The purpose for taking MAP Tests are to:

  • Identify what concepts and skills a student is ready to learn next

  • Measure growth over time

  • Help identify students for intervention

Asa Low students will take these tests beginning Monday, September 19 and will follow the schedule below:

  • September 19 - 5th/6th Mathematics MAP Test
  • September 20 - 5th/6th Grade Reading MAP Test
  • September 21 - 5th/6th Grade Science MAP Test
  • September 22 - MAP Make Up Testing
  • September 26 - MAP Make Up Testing

The MAP Tests are administered online so students will be required to bring their Chromebooks fully charged every day next week! Parents, we would appreciate your help reminding your kids to charge their Chromebooks at night and to bring their Chromebooks every day.

If your child has not been issued a Chromebook yet, not to worry, we have a plan to have those students test on the desktop computers we have in the Computer Lab.

If your child has been issued a Chromebook but it is broken or damaged, please make sure that you have filled out a Repair Ticket in Classlink and we will have those students test in the Computer Labs and the Library as well.

Keep in mind, we only have about 70 desktops in the Computer Labs and Library combined. I know that sounds like a lot, but when you have 600 students, 70 is not a lot. So again, it is very important that the kids bring their fully charged Chromebooks to school every day next week.
