Mr. Asa E. Low, Jr. was born on January 9, 1945. He attended North Texas State University where he earned a Bachelor’s of Science and a Master’s Degree in Music Education with a second teaching field in English.
Mr. Low began teaching at Lewisville High School and then at the Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD, where he founded the Carrollton-Farmers Branch All-District Boys’ Choir. While teaching, Mr. Low married Linda Goolsby and had four children: Ambre, Asa III, Aaron and Andrew.
In 1979, Mr. Low came to the Mansfield ISD, assuming the role of choral director at Mansfield High School. For 29 years, Mr. Low was an enthusiastic and committed teacher to the MISD; developing the middle school choir program, starting the intermediate school choir program, as well as writing and receiving numerous grants for MHS Choir and Band performances at the Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas, Texas.
A former student, Megan Smith recalls, "Mr. Low was the most amazing teacher I have ever had. He loved to inspire all of his students…and most of his students found him unforgettable. He inspired me to always do my best and always go for my dreams.”
After 41 years of encouraging and mentoring students, Mr. Low retired in June of 2008.
